NSLEOA State president

Muriel Hughes

 Muriel retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department with 30 years of service. She was a Police Lieutenant in the Criminal Investigations Bureau.  

 As a law enforcement officer, Hughes has dedicated her life to continuous learning and training by receiving multiple law enforcement certificates from the United States Secret Service, Dignitary Protection Training, and Leadership Development. 


She is also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, 

Hughes holds a Bachelor of Science from Winston Salem State University and a Master’s in Criminal Justice from Liberty University.
